Job No. 139003

  • Job Title:
  • Postdoctoral Fellow Role of oncogenic transcription factors in prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma
  • Employer:
  • Indiana University-Bloomington
  • Location:
  • -- , IN
  • Posting Date:
  • 13-May-2018
  • Description:
  • Job Summary: Cancer is often caused by improper regulation of gene expression. Transcription factors are the proteins that directly interpret the cis-regulatory sequence code to regulate transcription. Our group focuses on specificity mechanisms that allow some transcription factors to be oncogenic, while other, similar transcription factors are not. We are seeking to employ a post-doctoral researcher to explore specific oncogenic mechanisms of transcription factors that promote prostate cancer and renal cell carcinoma. Primary techniques used will include genomics and bioinformatics (execution and interpretation of RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, etc.), and functional assays in cell lines. We also utilize biochemical methods including protein purification to assay transcription factor functions.
Qualifications and Skills: Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with strong laboratory and analytical skills. Experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques, genomics, and bioinformatics is desirable, but most important is the ability to work independently to produce high-quality data and being enthusiastic about gaining more expertise.
Benefits: This is a full-time position with a full benefits package available, including health insurance and retirement.
Indiana University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Institution M/F/D/V.
